Modern educational literature: Aesthetics and functionality

In the process of education, educational literature is a necessary element. They are textbooks, manuals, workbooks, albums. Therefore, the problem of preparing an educational literature with a high quality, which has a form, content and design according to modern requirements for a new type of textbook, is one of the most relevant and deserves special attention, it is the subject of research in this article.
The authors identify the way how to create a new modern image of the educational literature in order to increase its effectiveness in the educational process. It is emphasized that publishers should rely on research on the theory of creating, designing and illustrating textbooks for students of different ages as well as on the sanitary standards of printing, which will ensure students’ health. It is focused on the importance of focusing content and form of illustrative material children. In this regard, visualization is the most relevant form of presentation of educational information.
The article presents reasoned proposals how to improve the typography of educational literature, the content, form, artistic image of illustrations and their composition, how to apply actively the varieties of infographics. The diversification of the visuals will allow to convey in a concentrated, accessible and modern form to students the most complex information. Moreover, it will contribute to intensification of learning and make this process more interesting. At the same time, it is noted that the non-textual material for publication should be functional, qualitatively executed, have artistic and aesthetic qualities as well as take into account the age characteristics of students in perception of educational information and illustrations. In addition, the importance of high-quality design of the publication in general is emphasized, which should have a single stylistics, harmonious colour solution, and logical design of covers.
The examples of textbook pages, which can serve as samples of new generation educational publication based on all the laws of design a book, demonstrate a new approach to presentation of educational material in the educational literature and promote students to become active learners.
