Abstract

In the context of wartime challenges, Ukrainian educators face pressing tasks regarding the conceptualization of educational priorities, particularly in the formation of cultural and spiritual orientations among school and university youth. These orientations help students recognize national-cultural, moral, and aesthetic values as markers of identity. The Ukrainian song, which combines cultural memory, a sense of continuous connection with national traditions, and the spiritual-emotional experience of individuals through the perception and performance of multi-genre compositions, provides opportunities for effective socio-cultural and artistic communication among school and university youth.
It is essential that Ukrainian songs be actively employed in general secondary and extracurricular education as a means of cultural and aesthetic education, fostering an emotionally and value-oriented attitude toward culture, developing artistic taste and creative abilities, enhancing awareness of the history and traditions of the Ukrainian people, and cultivating respect for the national historical and cultural heritage.
An analysis of trends in the development of Ukrainian patriotic songs from the country’s independence to the present allows for a conditional division into three stages: the emergence of Ukrainian patriotic songs as a distinct genre, their active development and increased public interest in national culture and history, and the consolidation of their sustainable development, which has been further intensified by the onset of military aggression and the growth of patriotic sentiment in society. This approach, related to the “inclusion” of Ukrainian song samples into the contemporary socio-cultural context, demonstrates significant dynamics in their development and establishment as a multi-dimensional artistic, cultural-educational, and pedagogical phenomenon.
New approaches to popularizing Ukrainian songs are considered through contemporary publications and analysis of practical experience, including the organization of cultural and artistic events. It is noted that a multifunctional approach to promoting Ukrainian songs lays the foundation for broader representation of their best examples within educational, concert, and competition-festival repertoires.
