Experimental practical activity of a master’s as a component of the preparation of a qualification thesis at the Kosiv State Institute of Decorative Art

The article deals with the options for practical experiments of Master’s of the educational and professional program “Decorative Art” of the Kosiv State Institute of Decorative Art, which form the basis of innovative projects in the process of preparing a qualification thesis. The educational program aligns with the Institute's development strategy as a leading art school, which aims to train professional personnel capable of preserving folk traditions and finding innovative forms of transforming established stereotypes into new artistic products. Therefore, experimental activity, which consists of inventing form-forming concepts and technological innovations, is the main type of research at the educational level “Master’s” and occupies a significant place in the logical and structural scheme of the educational program.
The materials of the article prove that the scientific and research component of the educational process is formed in the synthesis of field reconnaissance, theoretical analysis of the results of the applicant’s search activity and practical testing of the selected topic in various materials and techniques of decorative art and contributes to the deep and comprehensive study of the selected topic, ensures consistency and effective implementation of the tasks set.
The relevance of the research forms is substantiated. Several options for practical experiments of masters of the educational and professional program “Decorative Art” are considered, which illustrate the main context of this study: a series of artistic works “War-Burned Hearts Will Forever Shine with Stars”, where the applicant found his own pictorial techniques of conceptualism for the implementation of the author’s project; a series “Portraits of Hutsul Folk Masters”, where the result of the creative experiment was a combination of traditional drawing techniques with modern methods of digital technologies.
The examples of the results of the experimental activities of applicants confirm the innovations of creative approaches during the rethinking of established traditions of shaping and decorating folk art and craft products.
The conclusions of the article give grounds to consider the creative experimental activities of applicants of the educational level “Master’s” as an innovative component of scientific research, which is characteristic of the educational process of higher education institutions in the field of “Culture and Art”.
