National-patriotic education of students in institutions of out-of-school education using the project method

The article presents one of the key topics in modern psychological and pedagogical theory and practice: organizing project activities for children and adolescents within the out-of-school education system to foster national-patriotic values. The author focuses on the specifics of this process, analyzes it, and summarizes the results obtained based on studying the innovative experience of the Center for Technical Creativity and Professional Orientation of School Youth of the Darnytsia District of Kyiv. The specified materials will serve as the basis for developing an effective methodology for implementing a project-based approach to educating students about patriotism in institutions of out-of-school education.
National identity is considered as a system of values that contributes to the formation of the civic position of the younger generation, ensures spiritual continuity, and contributes to the consolidation of Ukrainian society. Special attention is paid to the practical experience of implementing national-patriotic projects.
The forms and methods of national-patriotic education used in the educational process of institutions of out-of-school education are analyzed, in particular, intellectual games, thematic competitions, local history studies, and volunteer initiatives. Particular attention is paid to the implementation of the project “Grateful Armed Forces of Ukraine”, which has significant cognitive value, as it contributes to the development of students’ interest in new information, comprehension of the acquired experience. The project method motivates teachers and their students to gain a deeper understanding of Ukraine, fosters a love for their native land, cultivates patriotic feelings, and respect for the military personnel who defend it. Search activities that promote national-patriotic content stimulate the spiritual development of children, activate the growth of civic responsibility, moral and legal awareness, and the level of national self-identity, as well as respect for human rights and freedoms.
It has been proven that the educational project “Grateful to the Armed Forces of Ukraine” is an effective means of forming a value-based attitude towards the state and national identity, and also contributes to the professional self-determination of students in the field of military professions.
