Technology of students' self-expression in the process of collective music-making

Abstract

The article analyzes psychological and pedagogical approaches to the essence of the concept of self-expression and its development among children by artistic means. The concept of “students’ self-expression in musical activities” is interpreted as the process of students’ embodying in its varieties of their own needs, ideals and values ​​based on the interested desire to identify and develop their musical performance and musical creativity.

The author presents a model of the process of students’ self-expression in musical activities defined in the structure of self-expression internal and external plans and their components. The internal motivational block relates to the interest in artistic (musical) activity, the need to show one’s own abilities, the desire to reveal one’s own musical and creative abilities. The internal cognitive block is associated with self-knowledge, self-esteem. Students’ self-expression in the external dimension (activity block) is a process of development of musical-creative abilities, performing and interpreting skills, embodiment of one’s own ideals, values ​​in musical-performing activity – vocal-choral, plastic, instrumental performance (self-expression through voice, body, playing the musical instruments) as well as musical-creative activities.

The technology of students’ self-expression in the process of collective music-making is presented. It is based on general pedagogical principles and principles of art pedagogy: from imitation to creativity, from practice to theory, unity of collective and individual, artistic and technical, emotional and conscious, complexity of activities, principle problems and improvisations.

Reproductive, creative and complex forms of collective music-making are detailed in accordance with the methods of self-expression: through voice (vocal-choral performance), through body (plastic performance), through playing the musical instruments (instrumental performance), possibilities of their application at music lessons.
