The concept of “distance learning” is defined, the historical aspect of the development of distance learning in the world and Ukraine is briefly presented. The legislative base of distance learning in Ukraine is indicated. The advantages of distance learning are the following: possibility of learning at a comfortable pace, place and at a convenient time, learning about the world through modern means, acquiring skills of independent learning. On the other hand, there are some disadvantages of distance learning such as lack of “live” communication, reduced motivation to learn, communication skills as well as teamwork skills. The author focuses on the challenges of distance learning for participants of the educational process during the pandemic: for teachers (lack of necessary technical means, unstable Internet connection, lack of IT skills and online teaching skills, difficulties in establishing communication with students because of lack of any gadgets), for students (low level of self-organization skills during quarantine, lack of gadgets, psychological unwillingness to learn in new conditions, limited communication with peers, difficulties in interaction with families, etc.), for parents (lack of skills to organize the process teaching children at home, some opposition to distance learning, etc.).
The peculiarities of pedagogical interaction of participants of the educational process aimed at the optimal achievement of the goals of art education in the conditions of distance learning are highlighted. The organizational tips of successful distance learning, means and tools of art teaching are considered such as: online lessons in the mode of video conferences, video lessons (offline lessons), virtual class, etc. The list of online tools (online board, interactive tasks, Web-quest, virtual tours, imaginary page in a social network, online tests, etc.) is presented. The examples of tasks and practical recommendations on their application are given that will allow to increase efficiency of students’ independent work, expand opportunities for artistic creativity, inspire and motivate students to learn.
