The article presents experience of postgraduate training of art teachers based on Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education, which includes course training of teachers in in-service training of teachers and intercourse activities. Moreover, it contributes to systematic development of professionalism of teachers in terms of changes related to the Concept of the New Ukrainian Schools and new challenges of distance learning.
The author offers different forms of work with teachers within the framework of postgraduate training for art teachers (NUS trainers’ trainings, master classes, webinars, creation of a social network), intercourse work (methodical study of art teachers in NUS, webinars and online-consultations, regional web-showcase as a presentation of the best art lessons, art pedagogical festivals, competitions).
The priority in improving professional competence of art teachers is the potential of the institute of postgraduate pedagogical education and the network of teachers in the process of course and intercourse work. Teachers’ networking occurs through the creation of a social professional group and using Internet resources, which contributes to formation of teachers’ openness to pedagogical innovations, develops their ability to process large amounts of professional information, its selection and presentation to students in various forms. The main advantage of networking is to encourage teachers to self-education, self-development and self-realization in profession.
The experience of the Department of Culture and Aesthetics of Donetsk Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education under the author’s guidance has proved the effectiveness of such forms and methods of working with students in the system of postgraduate teacher’s training that promote quality art education based on NUS.
