Experience in studying Samchykivsky painting in art teachers training

Abstract

The author of the article highlights the experience of working on Samchykivsky decorative painting in terms of the practical component of the training course of art teachers based on Khmelnytsky Regional Institute of Postgraduate Pedagogical Education. Some researches on Samchykivsky painting (O. Pazhymskyi, V. Rakovskyi, M. Yuzvuk, B. Schneider, S. Kasianov, V. Radochyna, Ya. Vlasenko-Bernatska), who promote painting in Ukraine and abroad, analysed features of symbolism, colour and plot of this painting and specifics, as well as modern masters of Samchykivsky painting.

Forms of work with art teachers provide deepening of their knowledge of history of Samchykivsky painting and its development, performance of decorative composition and using skills in their pedagogical and social activities. The authors presents practical lesson of the training course “Samchykivsky painting” and a visual series to it, which will encourage you to make their own attempts in Samchykivsky painting when creating compositions and making souvenirs. It allows educators use these materials in pedagogical practice.

Forms of work with art teachers in the intercourse period are described. They contribute to deepening of knowledge about Samchykivsky painting and its tradition and teachers’ practical skills to create decorative compositions excursions to the historical and cultural reserve “Samchyky”, creative meetings and workshops with masters of Samchykivsky painting, seminars with artists, scientists, art critics, publications based on the results of research work on Samchykivsky painting.

The article offers examples of integration of Samchykivsky painting (traditionally used only for decorating houses and interiors) in other areas of human life: the painting is used in the design of ceramic and wooden products, postcards, posters and calendars, clothing and textiles, etc. This testifies to modernity and demand of Samchykivsky painting.

It is concluded that the strong influence of decorative and applied arts and, in particular, Samchykivsky painting on education of the Ukrainian patriots with a high level of culture, spirituality and humanistic values.
