Art and educational project «Significant and Memorable Dates»: Value and educational potential

The article is devoted to the value and educational potential of the art and educational project «Significant and Memorable Dates» created and implemented by the Institute of Arts of the Rivne State University of Humanities (Ukraine). The article analyzes the conditions that gave impetus to the project launch and the reasons for its development and implementation in the context of events in the Ukrainian and international socio-political and cultural space.
The author reveals the mission of UNESCO in covering the cultural events of world art for strengthening peace and safety by expanding human cooperation in the field of Education, Science and Culture. The article analyzes the experience of purposeful promotion of the international celebration of important dates as a powerful tool for establishing a dialogue of the interethnic cultural community, mutual understanding and respect for cultural diversity and awareness of the uniqueness of each nation.
The content, purpose, and main objectives of the project «Significant and Memorable Dates», its stages, features of organization for formation of professional competencies of students of all art specialties in higher educational institutions with an emphasis on cultural competence are substantiated.
The key aim of the project is to create a reference book and to transform it into the educational and methodological manual for working with students in higher educational institutions, as well as to implement this manual into the process of students’ professional training. The article describes the functions of the manual, the specifics of how to use it by educators of different disciplines in teaching students of different courses. Developing national values, national self-identification and the local history component of the educational process are considered as the main components in education of students in higher educational institutions of art specialties. The core vector of such training is to form cultural competence as a dialectical unity of National Education with a local history component, a tolerant attitude towards diversity of the cultural treasury of the world.
The content of working with students at all stages of the project, which united the efforts of teachers of various departments and students in educational, cultural and educational areas and went beyond the institution of higher education, is revealed. The presented step-by-step of working process and creative products of the project implementation allow us to use the authors’ experience in the educational process of other higher educational institutions.
