The problem of using phonograms in violin solo and ensemble performance is considered. The author presents the advantages and disadvantages of using phonograms in the educational process as well as her own pedagogical experience. The phonogram is considered as an effective tool in learning to play the violin, especially in a distance learning. The analysis of educational and methodical literature showed the lack of collections with quality phonograms for solo music and especially in violin ensembles, which can be used in art schools in different educational levels. There is a noticeable lack of methodological recommendations for working with such the repertoire in training soloists and ensemble members.
The author provides recommendations for creating, editing phonograms and using them while learning to play the violin in order to achieve specific pedagogical objectives. The analysis of educational and methodical literature, repertoire collections supplemented by phonograms is carried out.
The author’s own pedagogical experience has shown that using phonograms in solo performance promotes the development of students’ melodic and harmonious hearing, concentration of auditory control, metro-rhythmic stability, sense of tempo, performance, encourages independent work, inspires participation in concerts and relieves fear of public performances. In ensemble performance, use phonograms helps to solve problems of pure intonation, rhythmic stability, expressive joint performance of works, promotes free behaviour on stage, artistry. The problems and their elimination by using phonograms in the process of training soloists and members of violin ensembles are considered.
Using phonograms in teaching how to play the violin allows soloists and violin students to be mobile in concert activities, independent of various factors (premises, availability of piano, accompanist, etc.). A diversity of the repertoire through using musical works of different eras, styles and genres, including modern ones, is an important condition for increasing students’ motivation to master a musical instrument, increase their self-esteem, gain experience in public performance.
The prospect for further research is to find out the peculiarities of using phonograms in work with performers of different ages, including in the context of distance learning.
