Abstract

The article focuses on intercultural communication as a tool for promoting Ukrainian culture worldwide. It analyzes the experience of the International Festival-Competition “Art Rays of Ukraine” as an example of effective cultural diplomacy aimed at disseminating Ukrainian artistic heritage and shaping a positive international image of Ukraine.

Theoretical approaches to understanding intercultural communication have been realized, and the specific features of interaction among representatives of different cultures within artistic initiatives are outlined. It is emphasized that, in the context of globalization and intensified international interactions, culture is not only a sphere of society’s spiritual development but also a significant factor in shaping a state’s global image. In this regard, cultural and artistic practices capable of ensuring effective intercultural dialogue, facilitating the exchange of cultural meanings, and strengthening the country’s position on the global stage acquire particular importance.

The role of the festival as a platform for international dialogue, cultural exchange, and the strengthening of Ukrainian identity during wartime has been defined. The implementation of the International Festival-Competition “Art Rays of Ukraine” is presented as a successful model of promoting Ukrainian culture globally. It is emphasized that the festival fulfils a multidimensional mission: it represents Ukrainian culture internationally, serves as a platform for artists’ professional development, conducts cultural diplomacy, shapes a positive image of Ukraine worldwide, fosters unity within the international community, and contributes to the development of empathy and solidarity with the Ukrainian people. Moreover, it supports the Armed Forces of Ukraine through volunteer fundraising and informational outreach. The festival promotes Ukrainian folklore, music, theatre arts, choreography, literary creativity, and contemporary artistic practices. The article presents some examples of international media coverage, particularly in diaspora outlets, confirming global interest in Ukrainian cultural heritage.

The research results lead to the conclusion that intercultural communication within artistic projects serves as an effective and multifaceted tool for promoting Ukrainian culture, and in times of war, art functions not only as a form of cultural expression but also as a resource of societal resilience and spiritual support.
