General music education in the countries of the Balkan region

Abstract

An analysis of the system of general music education in some countries of the Balkan Peninsula, in particular Albania and Greece, allows us to speak of certain trends. Thus, music education covers all levels of education, which helps to increase its role and importance. Music education involves different types of musical activities of students in music lessons, which stimulates students' ability to musical and creative self-development - it is noticeable that the art of music is used as a universal means of stimulating the creative potential of modern schoolchildren in the Balkans. Getting acquainted with the heritage of musical culture of the past and present of their country is an integral part of music education.

The article presents and substantiates the main achievements in the field of general music education in the Balkan region, namely: Albania and Greece. In accordance with the curricula of preschool, basic and general education, the main musical and pedagogical technologies have been identified, which are introduced both in lessons and in optional classes on musical and aesthetic education of children and youth.

It is motivated what folklore repertoire and folk musical instruments are used in the educational process, how collective music influences the formation of musical culture of the individual, stimulates the development of musical and creative abilities and promotes moral and aesthetic education of children and youth.

Music and aesthetic education of children and youth in Albanian schools is given some attention. A music lesson is included in the curriculum, and children who show interest and interest in a particular musical instrument or in solo or choral singing can develop their creative abilities in extracurricular activities. Music teachers try to develop children's musical hearing, musical memory and sense of metrorhythm.

The system of general music education in Greece has a long tradition. Beginning with the ancient Greek philosophers, the development of musical culture took place in accordance with the political and socio-economic development of the state, resulting in Greece formed an educational system in which musical education of children and youth is given much attention. In music lessons and extracurricular activities, students take an active part in various forms of music making, which allows the assimilation of European and national values, the formation of ethical and aesthetic qualities.
