Volodymyr Ivasiuk: A song that revitalizes the spirit

The article highlights the life-creating principles and value-based worldview orientations of the outstanding Ukrainian composer Volodymyr Ivasiuk, who reached unprecedented heights in song and music, becoming a national pride of Ukraine. It reveals the significance of his creative legacy in the context of modern cultural and artistic education and its societal mission aimed at developing Ukrainian culture, strengthening national identity, statehood, and fostering national consciousness. The pedagogical-psychological, sociocultural, aesthetic, and ethical factors influencing the professional and civic formation of the artist are characterized. Special attention is given to the role of family, upbringing, “parental pedagogy”, as well as the factors of cultural-historical tradition and national memory.
Through the lens of the fundamental pedagogical principles of nationality, cultural conformity, and natural conformity, and relying on a Ukrainocentric approach, the artistic and pedagogical components of shaping the personality of this brilliant Song Poet are analyzed. In his worldview and value-based dimension, he perceived the significance of the people’s primary sources as the foundation for creating his Idea, Work, and Muse.
It is stated that the forms of Ivasiuk’s song renaissance were exceptionally refined in terms of language, artistic expression, and folk poetry – somewhat complex philosophically and conceptually, yet accessible, popular, and strikingly modern. However, the common denominator of most of Ivasiuk’s works was their profound artistic quality, based primarily on the primary sources of folk music, Ukrainian poetry, and the beauty of both Humanity and Nature. The article notes that the composer was highly sensitive to poetry imbued with love for his people and humanity, where devotion gave birth to sacrifice and a willingness to share the most cherished and intimate. His songwriting was deeply rooted in history, folklore, folk melodies, the timeless beauty of Nature, the wisdom of noble and beautiful people, and the vast treasury of unparalleled folk talents of Bukovyna and the Carpathian region.
The worldview vectors of his perception of the world, along with the ethical and aesthetic value dimensions embedded by Ivasiuk in musical-song culture, are fundamentally relevant both to professional artistic education and general pedagogical training. These aspects align with the criteria of competence, civic responsibility, and national-cultural awareness required of the modern educator.
