Abstract

The article addresses some aspects of forming special competencies of future musicians in educational instrumental ensembles in institutions of pre-higher arts education in the context of the issue of training pre-higher education students.

Differences between ensemble and orchestral performance are outlined, clarifying that ensemble and orchestral performance have specific features in organizing musical and creative activities. The specifics of the educational instrumental ensemble’s activities within the academic discipline “Ensemble” in institutions of pre-higher education are highlighted.

It is noted that the educational instrumental ensemble is one of the forms of instrumental training for future musicians, based on the principles of collective music-making and providing experience in ensemble performance and professional communication, as well as the development of creative abilities. The educational instrumental ensemble acts simultaneously as a performing group and a pedagogically creative laboratory for developing the special competencies of future musicians.

The peculiarities of musical communication in the ensemble are viewed as a process of musical and performing interaction among participants based on partnership principles aimed at solving both creative (studying, interpreting, concert performance of musical works) and pedagogical tasks. Specific verbal (explanations, comments, questions, comparisons), non-verbal (gestures, mimics, pauses), and musical-performing (playing instruments, musical performance, intonation, etc.) means of communication present in the activities of the educational instrumental ensemble are identified.

The author’s observations of participants in instrumental educational ensembles and orchestras during their rehearsal work led to conclusions regarding the more significant potential for musical communication in ensemble groups and, therefore, the more significant potential of instrumental ensembles for creative interaction and musical development of their participants. The article provides recommendations for creating creative interaction among participants based on partnership principles and organizing intra-ensemble communication with a stimulating and inspiring effect, maximizing joint results.
