The article provides recommendations for implementing the New Ukrainian School's requirements for mandatory learning outcomes in art education for students in 5th and 6th grades, as defined by the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education. Scientific approaches to modern methods, techniques, and teaching technologies for art education in institutions of general secondary education are analyzed in the context of implementing the principles of the New Ukrainian School.
Conclusions are drawn that disciplines within art education have significant potential for forming students’ value orientations in the New Ukrainian School, realizing students’ competency potential, and developing their creative perspective on various aspects of contemporary life in society.
Considering the requirements for students’ mandatory learning outcomes in art education (such as recognizing various art forms, interpreting artistic images, experiencing emotional responses, fostering a value-based attitude towards art; developing artistic and associative thinking during creative activities in various art forms; self-discovery through interaction with various artistic objects, developing emotional intelligence; using the informational environment in their own creativity and artistic communication), the author identifies the directions for teachers to implement these requirements in fine arts lessons for 5th-6th grades of the New Ukrainian School.
These include students’ knowledge of various types of art, interpretation of artistic images, emotional experiences, and fostering a value-based attitude towards art; fostering the development of students’ artistic and associative thinking during creative activities in various types of art, by employing engaging topics and practical tasks, traditional and non-traditional drawing techniques, practical tasks based on the expressive means of various types of fine arts, and various methods of encouragement and motivation for artistic and creative activities.
The author presents examples of tasks for 5th-6th grade students, which can be easily adapted for studying various educational topics according to students’ needs. Based on the article’s materials, educators can develop their own system of techniques to implement the requirements for students’ mandatory learning outcomes during fine arts lessons.
