The article reveals the topic of using Trypillia culture in the aesthetic education of schoolchildren, highlighted in the context of the need to strengthen the Ukrainian-centricity of education in our country. Accordingly, the Trypillia civilization is considered a factor in the creation of Ukrainian culture in the historical heredity of its stages. Considerations regarding the prospective directions of using the assets of the Trypillia culture in the aesthetic education of schoolchildren are outlined.
The author draws readers’ attention to the pioneers of the Trypillia culture, Vikentii Khvoika and Oleh Olzhych, who contributed to the excavations and systematization of knowledge about this culture.
Areas of activity of the people of Trypillia are considered, which testify to the existence of art among them – ornamented ceramics of exceptionally high quality, fine plastic, and architecture. The aesthetic qualities of this art are characterized, its sacred purpose is emphasized, and the depth of the ornaments' symbolism reflects their creators' cosmogonic ideas. Examples of sensational archaeological discoveries of recent decades are given, in particular – the majestic temple in the village of Nebelivka and related finds, including a clay astronomical calendar.
Parallels are drawn with some cultural phenomena of much later eras, indicating a particular common spiritual foundation among humankind. It is emphasized that the discovery of Trypillia culture at the end of the 19th century greatly influenced the formation of modernist art, particularly the work of the Ukrainian sculptor Oleksandr Arkhypenko. The mentioned names of modern Ukrainian artists whose work stylistic and spiritual unity with the art of the people of Trypillia can be traced.
Attention is drawn to the possibilities of museum pedagogy in connection with the information provided about several Ukrainian museums with collections of Trypillia artifacts. The folk craftswoman, Liudmila Smoliakova’s activity in studying and reproducing the treasures of Trypillia culture, is considered.
