The article reflects the life and creativity of the Ukrainian composer, poet, teacher-educator, pianist, Merited Culture Worker of Ukraine, member of The National Union of Composers of Ukraine Volodymyr Illich Skuratovskyi (1963–2016). The multifaceted nature of his activity is considered, with an emphasis on educational and pedagogical components. The article is timed to the 60th anniversary of artist’s birthday — in context of various events with the occasion of his anniversary.
The phenomenon of creative personality’s universalism, which has become, is studied the key to effective musical education and development of students and listeners audiences of different age categories. The main positions of the author’s work have been revealed V.I. Skuratovsky’s teaching method and focused attention on the main ones its signs: broadcast of teacher’s personality, caring attitude towards creative manifestations of students.
Educational and pedagogical potential of V.I. Skuratovskyi’s music projects and their main pedagogical principles were revealed and analyzed. Considered the long-term experience of music-pedagogical project “Young Opera” and program “Children’s Philharmonic” (Dnipro), their significance in music education and training of primary art education institutions students.
The uniqueness of the “Young Opera” project was noted, which manifested itself in creation of a flexible creative atmosphere for pedagogical supertask implementation. This means gradual involvement of teenagers and youth in high art, the formation of spiritual and cultural values through best opera works, their knowledge and performance, development of musical taste. Formulated general methodological provisions, underlined special role of V.I. Skuratovskyi in this project.
Attention is drawn to the methods developed by Volodymyr and Olga Skuratovskyi’s program “Children’s Philharmonic” in educating the basics of musical intelligence of younger audiences. The method of concert interactive fairy tales, options for implementation of idea, prospects for development and scaling of idea were analyzed. It is emphasized that V.I Skuratovskyi acted in this projects not only as a leader and executor, but also he embodied the image of composer. One of his famous works “Album for Children” is presented.
Various ways of further development in the musicological and cultural studies of V.I. Skuratovskyi’s creativity and activity are considered.
