Musical and Motor Activity of Students at Music Lessons

Abstract

In the context of the problem of musical and motor activity of primary school students at music lessons, the article considers the aspect of its diversification with the help of using the author’s interactive exercises and games. The author offers different types of musical and motor activities for primary school students: musical and finger play games, musical and finger gymnastics, musical and motor exercises, “hand theatre”, musical movements, and improvisations to music. Some examples of interactive exercises and games are given, their purpose and tasks at music lessons are described. In addition, methodical recommendation on how implement them primary school is presented based on the pedagogical experience of the author of the article.

  Conclusions were made about the positive influence of the author’s interactive exercises and games on the physical and mental state of students, as well as on the formation of general cognitive processes – memory, attention, imagination, and promotion of creative self-expression of primary school students. Implementing a variety of musical and motor activities, which are united by one topic at each stage of the lesson, alternates mental and physical activity and increases the effectiveness of learning. Musical and motor activity provides an opportunity to solve a comprehensive solution of educational tasks in a game form, which is accessible for students.

The material of the article is relevant in the conditions of blended and distance learning, when the motor activity of children is significantly reduced. Accordingly, pedagogical tools in the form of interactive musical and motor exercises and games are necessary to ensure the general development of children, improve their well-being, mental relief and physical recovery. The author highlights how to organize the educational process in order to involve motor activity into all stages of music lesson on the way to students’ acquisition of artistic competence and other key competences in the conditions of the New Ukrainian School.

The author’s experience such as interactive forms of work with primary school students and its practical implementation are useful for primary school teachers, educators, as well as specialists who work with children with special educational needs.
