Educational Still-Life Painting: Preparing a Drawing for Watercolor Painting

The article focuses on the issue of educational still-life painting of students of art education institutions of the 2nd level of accreditation within the framework of the course “Painting”. The main principles of theory and practice of carrying out the educational still-life painting have been defined.
The stages of preparation of the drawing have been described: goal setting; visual study and analysis of nature; choice of the point and level of view over nature; search for image composition and scale; search for a vertical or horizontal image using a sketch and a viewfinder; finding a composite center and the location of objects in a spatial environment; proportional, linear constructive construction taking into account the perspective and revealing the nature of objects; completion of watercolor painting with the application of the third dimension on objects in accordance with illumination and materiality. Visual samples have been presented for better understanding the material.
Theory and practice of still-life painting with watercolor will help teachers to build and organize practical work with students at lessons, as well as increase college students’ level in self-study of beginner artists.
