The essence of collective attention of schoolchildren at choir class in general educational institutions out-of-school educational institutions is determined. Collective attention of students in vocal and choral activities is considered as the ability to simultaneously auditory and intellectual concentration of the participants of the collective, their joint setting (orientation) on singing in the conductor’s hands, to achieve the choral order, ensemble, emotionality and expressiveness of the performance of musical work.
The characteristic features of the singers’ collective activity in the choir’s creative team are considered. In addition, psychological, performing, interpretive orientation and interaction of the participants of the choir group have become necessary.
The factors contributing to the expressions of students’ collective attention are the following: the unity of goals and tasks of all singers, the same level of development of vocal-choral skills and skills of singers, synchrony of the tempo-rhythm of participants’ activities, desire of the choirs to identify the necessary understanding and tolerance to others.
In order to develop the collective attention of the singers, the author proposes for the teacher – the head of the choir the following directions of work: the choir’s orientation to the joint activity and result, formation of special skills and abilities of the choir members, formation of their volitional behaviour. Methods and techniques of development of collective attention at choral classes: development of the state of schoolchildren’s readiness of before singing, development of choristers’ attitude of careful listening, promote the choir members to self-control and evaluation of quality and expressiveness of their performance, emotional strengthening, emotional and creative setting of schoolchildren before concert performance.
It is emphasized on the importance of developing the singers’ ability to synchronize voluntary concentration with the help of singing skills by conducting a gesture. Moreover, students’ interest in choir activities will result in a high degree of concentration and emergence of students’ postvoluntary attention. The well-chosen repertoire, using elements of game with primary schoolchildren, encouraging the singers’ least achievements, predicting of success, teacher’s kindness will support students’ interest.
