Possibilities of using the means of museum pedagogy in educational practice

The article emphasizes that there is a need to use the potential of museum institutions, to improve the methods of museum pedagogy based on experience of local cultural and art-oriented museums of orientation. The main reason is that the museum function which carries out an educational, cultural making mission in society. It is proved that museums not only symbolize the institutions stored the monuments, exhibits of history, material and spiritual culture. In the conditions of Ukraine’s independence, museums should become powerful cultural, scientific, spiritual, educational centres that form a new worldview, rational and sensory comprehension, perception of person’s own historical heritage.
Based on traditional and innovative forms and methods of using museum pedagogical means, the author proposes the complex of tasks that can be used for activating the auditorium and extracurricular work in the conditions of a modern institution of general education. When structuring the content of the tasks, selecting the appropriate forms and methods, it was considered how the ability to form a critical assessment of historical events based on the use of the potential of museum pedagogy; to establish dialogue interaction in the system “school-museum”; to improve the teachers’ skills regarding the thematic selection of museum exhibitions taking into account the person’s individual needs. The complex of tasks for students of institutions of general education is aimed at intensifying the mastery of the thematic material of museums of cultural and art studies (in Kyiv), acquaintance with the methods of work of museums with different categories of the population, with artistic and educational measures organized for the purpose of development of value orientations, formation of a national consciously world outlook; use the potential of real and virtual excursions.
