Abstract

The article deals with the issue of the importance of the notebook-album as a genre of educational literature as well as how to use it at art lessons in institutions of general secondary education. The function of the notebook-album in art education is considered, its difference from the textbook, its content and visual components, its role in learning at art lessons, in students’ independent activity, the possibility of using it in the conditions of distance learning of art are clarified. It is emphasized that the main direction of the notebook-album as a teaching manual is to help students learn about art through their own artistic practical activity and the possibility of creative self-expression.

A notebook-album for students of the 4th grade (“Art. My first creative steps” by authors O. Kalinichenko, L. Masol, L. Aristova) provides with methodical recommendations for using the notebook-album in teaching art at different stages of the lesson: at the beginning of the lesson (at the stage of actualization of students’ knowledge and perception of new material), during the lesson (to activate the students’ cognitive activity and consolidate the learned material, for short-term practical exercises, to get acquainted with an example of the sequence of performing a practical task, during the students’ performance of a creative task in the notebook-album), at the end of the lesson (at the stage of knowledge testing, self-assessment, reflection). The various types of tasks developed by the authors in the notebook-album (content line
“Fine Art”), the features of their using in individual and group work with students and in the conditions of distance learning.

It is concluded that the notebook-album on art complements the textbook “Art” with a high-quality visual series and a set of various tasks at all stages of the lesson. In this way, conditions are created for students to learn about the world of art with joy and interest, as well as for students to successfully implement their own artistic and creative activities. Various types of tasks in the author’s notebook-album for students of the 4th grade are aimed at the following: visualized tasks-riddles, tasks-clues, tasks-finishing, training and creative practical tasks. The peculiarity and advantage of this manual is the expedient combination of several types of tasks in one topic in certain combinations.
