Abstract

The article highlights the peculiarities of acrylic painting in art studio on the basis of a secondary school. The properties of acrylic paints – a material made of water and a binder of acrylic pigment, which form a strong and bright light film after drying, have been described; acrylic paints are fast-drying, light-resistant, durable and brittle, extremely elastic; paint is applied in a thick layer as oil, or thin as watercolour. The properties of acrylic paints are used by students to create a variety of artistic images. To perform acrylic works such artistic tools as round brushes, artistic spatulas of various sizes with thin long steel stack, drawing easel are required.

The techniques for acrylic painting are the following: drawing with fingers, squeezing streams of paint on the canvas and forming thin or thicker lines created by the movements of the hand, as well as use brushes or mastics of various forms. By working with free hand movements in different directions, you can achieve different visual and expressive effects. Mastering the techniques of acrylic painting will allow students to create expressive artistic images of both abstract content and subject compositions (landscape, still life, and portrait) without long artistic preparation.

The article is illustrated by A. Popova’s work, the students of art studio, who has won prestigious international awards at festivals and competitions of international level among children aged 10-12. The master class on creating a portrait with acrylic paints with students of 5th grade who have no prior special artistic training has been presented: the stages of performing art work with illustrations. Conclusions are made about the possibility of using artistic technique in visual education of students of art studios, which proves the author’s long pedagogical experience.
