Abstract

The article actualizes the problem of applying LEGO game exercises with primary school students at music lessons in the context of the provisions of the Concept of New Ukrainian School. Based on analysis of articles and theses of Ukrainian researchers, the classification of music games have been generalized, in particular music-didactic music games is a separate component in their structures.

The brief information on creating and using LEGO game and instructional designers have been provided, as well as a list of online resources with practical tips for using LEGO in primary school.

The author’s approach to the possibilities and peculiarities of using LEGO bricks at musical lessons in the context of the provisions of the Concept of New Ukrainian School has been highlighted. A set of author’s game exercises with using LEGO bricks and various ways of working with this didactic material have been presented, namely: exercises during acquaintance and consolidation with students of musical concepts; exercises that should be used to learn the means of musical expression; exercises that will facilitate the learning of songs (singing); exercises that help to master musical literacy in the form of game; exercises that enhance music and creativity; exercises in discussing musical works; exercise as one of the tools of formative assessment.

The described game exercises have been intended to create positive educational motivation for primary school students, promote the formation of subject competences of students in music art lessons in the conditions of the New Ukrainian School, as well as to develop their skills of working in a group, interacting with peers, give impulse to their own discoveries on artistic topics.
