Abstract

The article deals with the problem of e-books for preschoolers and the requirements for their content and design.

The article investigated the genesis of the book development printing, and the design of books inside and outside — from the first images on the walls of caves as a prototype of illustrations that were a kind of a way to tell stories — to a modern color books with illustrations and decorations. Special attention is given tо the characteristics of the stages of the development of illustration process of printed books.

There was distinguished a new book format — e-book and its varieties: e-books that mimic printed books for tablets or e-readers; interactive e-books containing illustrations with the ability to interact with their graphic elements; multimedia e-books which are based on a combination of static forms of information (texts, graphics) and dynamic forms of information (audio, video and animation) for tablets. Features of these subspecies, requirements to their development and design are presented.

Based on the market research of such e-books, the conclusions were made about the lack of quality children's multimedia educational and developmental content, especially in art direction; primarily the entertaining function of apps for children of this age category.

The author presents a Multimedia Educational And Developmental Set on the History of Ukrainian Culture for 5-7 Aged Children «Malyuzhka-Book», that include printed (workbook-album) and electronic (mobile app) parts, which are interconnected with each other. The uniqueness of the developed product is in the self-obtaining visual and sound information by the child through its interaction with the app and its processing through a system of visual and interactive elements.
